Wigan boss Steve Bruce will launch an ambitious bid to land Newcastle striker Michael Owen in the New year.Bruce has already set his sights on former Manchester United team-mate Nicky Butt who,like Owen,is out of contract next summer.His interest in Owen,however,may be a clever ploy to persuade Heskey to stay put by pairing him with his favourite international team-mate.
